Heading Homo Cabaret: An Ode to the Bathhouse
Step back into a queer tradition that once thrived in hidden corners of our history: the bathhouse cabaret. Heading Homo Cabaret revives this lost artform with Hawks PDX artist-in-residence Grant Miller, who will guide us through a playful, musical exploration of the characters, longings, and delicious mischief that make our sacred space sizzle. Expect a mix of humor, heart, and unapologetic queer joy—part song cycle, part love letter to the bathhouse as a site of liberation.
This one-hour performance unfurls on Friday, September 5th, at 7:00 PM on the Hawks PDX back patio. Seating is casual and community-oriented—picnic benches, steps, the ground, and even the hot tub. Fridays are all-gender nights at Hawks. As always, Hawks is a no-clothing venue (towels optional), and consent is our guiding star.
Hawks PDX isn’t just a bathhouse—it’s a community hub for connection, care, and playful exploration. Facilities include:
A private outdoor courtyard with lush plants, picnic tables, and friendship
8-person jacuzzi, eucalyptus steam room, and dry pine sauna
Upstairs play areas with swings, mats, glory holes, and cozy nooks (separate from the courtyard and food/snack area)
Private rooms and lockers with towel service
Showers, toy-cleaning sinks, and consent-trained staff
A wide range of food, drinks, toys, and gear available for purchase
Accessibility notes: ramp access with a doorbell for entry, two single-stall bathrooms that lock, and free street parking nearby.
Pricing: Members enjoy $7 lockers before 6 PM. Day passes start at $10, with lockers at $27. Additional private room options available.
Join us for an evening of queer cabaret that celebrates the body, the bathhouse, and the joy of showing up exactly as you are.
